It is all about creating and adding value

Have you ever wondered what your path might be if the traditional job hunt wasn't your primary focus? This article aims to shift your perspective, inspiring you to recognize and harness your innate worth. As a fresh graduate who once stood on the brink of unemployment, I understand the crushing sense of hopelessness that can follow years of diligent study, only to find yourself struggling to prove your value in a saturated job market.

However, it's important to remember that rejection, as hard as it may be to accept, doesn't define your potential. You belong to one of the most intelligent and adaptable species on this planet, fully capable of forging your own path to financial stability and fulfilment.

Remember: Action is key. Don't wait idly for the perfect opportunity; be proactive. Whether it means starting multiple ventures or exploring unconventional avenues, the goal is to keep moving forward. Shark Tank billionaire, Mark Cuban once said, "You only need to be right once." Meaning its okay to try and fail, BUT the more you try, the more likely you are to succeed.

Over the years, I have come to realize that creating value is the key to success, whether you are working in a corporate job or as a self-employed contractor, playing sports, singing, dancing, or any other activity. In this article, I will share some fundamental ways that I believe will help you create value wherever you are, demonstrating that achieving financial stability is within your reach.

  • This is only a reminder to society that there are many opportunities available beyond traditional job hunting in order to achieve financial stability, made possible by the abundance of information on social media and other technology platforms such as ChatGPT.

Closing Remarks: Taking the First Step

You are probably asking yourself, "What can I do to start?"

Firstly, understand that your current situation, though difficult, does not define your worth or potential. The path to finding purpose and creating value in society often begins with small, manageable steps:

  1. Start Small Projects: Consider initiating a small project or venture. It could be as simple as starting a blog, creating handmade crafts, or offering tutoring in a subject you excel in. These projects can turn into valuable experiences and sometimes even evolve into career opportunities.
  2. Be Open to Non-Traditional Paths: The traditional career path isn’t the only route to success and fulfilment. Many find rewarding careers and lives through unconventional means. Be open to exploring paths that might initially seem unconventional.
  3. Use social media to your advantage: Connect with individuals in fields that interest you. As previously mentioned, following the right social media accounts can change the course of your life. Memes are entertaining and all, but do they pay the bills? Unless, of course, you are posting them to build your digital marketing credentials.
  4. Identify Your Interests and Skills: Reflect on what you enjoy doing and what you're good at. Your hobbies, past academic subjects, or even casual interests can be a starting point. List all the ways you can monetize these items. For example, could you utilize your excellent communication skills to start a podcast on a subject you like? e.g. Sports, Celebrities, or Technology
  5. Learn and Develop New Skills: Utilize online platforms to learn new skills that align with your interests. There are numerous free or low-cost courses available on platforms like Coursera, Udemy, or Khan Academy. Learning something new can be both empowering and a constructive way to spend your time.
  6. Prioritize Your Wellbeing: Remember to take care of your mental and physical health. Engage in activities that uplift you, like exercise, meditation, or simply enjoying a hobby. Your well-being is the foundation from which you can build resilience and strength.
  7. Explore Volunteer Opportunities: Look for volunteer roles in your community or online. This could be anything from helping at a local food bank to participating in online advocacy campaigns. Volunteering not only helps others but can also give you a sense of purpose and belonging.
  8. Stay Hopeful and Persistent: While it’s easier said than done, maintaining a positive outlook and persisting in your efforts can make a significant difference. Every step you take, no matter how small, is progress.

In the end, remember that creating value and finding purpose is a journey unique to each individual. Your current challenges do not diminish your potential to contribute meaningfully to society and forge your way to financial stability. You can do it!
